We are not only committed to making our Blue Lagoon Swimwear look and feel their best, but ensuring our product lines contribute towards Environmental change and Sustainability. BL has proudly partnered with ECONYL®, to ensure our swimwear range is produced using high quality regenerated and recycled materials.
We also use CIENNA™ fabric, made from Re-cycled Polyester & Nylon covered elastane. Is a tubular knitted stretch fabric.
We don’t talk about sustainability just because it is fashionable. We are not into “green washing”, on the contrary, we believe in a serious, clear and concrete commitment.
We have been offering our customers a selection of high end recycled fabrics made of ECONYL® yarn, a 100% regenerated nylon yarn derived from pre and post industrial waste such as discarded fishing nets.
All such materials, once they have reached the end of their useful life, instead of being disposed of in the landfill, are recovered and regenerated by means of a complex chemical-physical process. 8 million tons of wastes end up in our seas every single year.
640 thousand tons of fishing nets are abandoned at the bottom of the ocean. (data sourced from FAO and UNEP) Such alarming data tell us that, unless the situation changes, by 2050 our seas may contain more garbage than fish.
We need to change our approach radically, cohabiting with Nature in the best possible way, and considering the importance of a limited resource such as water. We need to be more deeply aware of this situation and change our mentality completely.
ECONYL®, a new polyamide yarn boasting the same features as virgin nylon in terms of performance and quality, but with the plus of not having been produced with the use of non renewable fossil raw materials. ECONYL® Regeneration System !
